Fish Population Assessments

Redd Surveys:

Since the fall of 2014 BBEMA staff have been resurveying tributaries within the Wilmot and Dunk Rivers to gauge the increase/decrease in salmonid redd abundance for subsequent estimation of adult salmonid breeding population size within the river.  Each October staff collect and map redd site coordinates.  This data is then compared to previous year results as well as redd survey data from 1995 (obtained from the Prince County Fly Fishers) to guage population trends.
