Native Pollinator Conservation

Ensuring the availability of quality habitat is critical for the conservation of any species – the overuse of herbicides along roadsides and elsewhere is turning diverse areas that support monarchs, pollinators, and other wildlife into grass-filled landscapes that support few species.

Native Pollinator Conservation Program:

The project will work directly with local landowners to strengthen monarch butterfly and pollinator habitat protection on public and private lands across PEI through the development of nectar waystations and pollinator reserves – through this project BBEMA will assist landowners in the creation, conservation and restoration of new or existing pollinator habitats and landscapes. Big garden or small garden – it doesn’t matter.

Primary goal – strengthen pollinator habitat protection on public and private land through critical habitat management and restoration plans that increase “nectar reserves” – series of habitat patches containing plants that flower at the appropriate times during the spring, summer and fall seasons.

BBEMA is looking to partner with local landowners to strengthen monarch butterfly and pollinator habitat protection on public and private lands across PEI through the development of nectar waystations and pollinator reserves. BBEMA will assist landowners in the creation, conservation and restoration of new or existing pollinator habitats and landscapes.  From big field to small garden – it doesn’t matter. If you want to enhance your area for pollinators contact the BBEMA office 886-3211.
