Pollinator Gardens

Natural areas in cities may sound like a contradiction of terms. However, they are essential to the quality of life in urban areas. Naturalized areas in and around our communities offer recreation, health benefits, a refuge for wildlife, and a wide range of environmental services. Additional to this Community gardens are a vital component of a healthy sustainable city. They are an important recreational amenity which serves all segments of the population.  Community gardens are a place for inter-generational sharing and a great place to educate residents about the natural environment.

Through this program, BBEMA has partnered with community volunteers of all ages to design and create Monarch and pollinator gardens that will enrich urban pollinator habitats within the Bedeque Bay Watershed
