🌿🐝 So… what has our busy field crew been up to this summer? 🦋🐦💧
Honestly… a LOT! 😄
Our crew has been out and about across the watershed, getting their hands dirty, learning, monitoring, teaching, planting, and generally keeping very busy!
Here’s a little snapshot of what they’ve been up to so far:
💧 Water quality monitoring – collecting samples, checking stream health, and keeping an eye on what’s happening in our waterways.
🧑🏫 Youth education & community outreach – meeting with young people, sharing environmental knowledge, answering questions, and chatting with community members at outreach booths and events.
🌱 Eelgrass meadow monitoring – heading out on the coast to check in on these important underwater habitats.
🌿 Invasive species removal – getting up close and personal with some plants we definitely don’t want around! 💪
🌳🐝 Tree & pollinator plantings – putting down roots and creating more habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife.
🦋 Monarch habitat & population monitoring – searching for monarchs, checking habitat, and keeping track of these amazing long-distance travellers.
🐦 Tree swallow banding – getting up close with some very busy little birds as we band fledglings and help gather information about our local tree swallow population.
And that’s just so far! 😅
From streams and forests to fields, gardens, and coastal habitats, our crew has been learning, monitoring, restoring, planting, educating, and connecting with the community all summer long.
We’re pretty sure there’s never a dull moment in the field! 🌎💚
